I LOST 180 LBS!
USSHERS SYNDROME
DEPRESSION
WHAT IS TRUTH?

My husband of 42 years has Ussher's Syndrome.
Kenny lost his hearing very young, and wore those horrible square hearing aids as a small boy.
He developed night blindness in his late teens.
Back then they didnt help handicapped children,or provide for them. So he learned to compensate. He drove until 28 years ago, when we realized he could no longer see more than a straw's worth in each eye. After surgery he totally lost one eye. In the last 5 years he lost all but one percent in his remaining eye. His hearing has deteriorated to where he has to wear two hearing aids all the time. These days he sees one word at a time on his computer. Nothing on tv, and still thinks im beautiful!(cant see anything but light)He never complains. He holds on to the fact that he did get to see his children and grandchildren before he lost that capacity.

These days Kenny listens to tv, but roots the Eagles on!
He has his favorite soap that I got him hooked on 20 years ago when i was in college(All My Children). But these days I have to tell him who is talking.

Keep flapping those wings Kenny! Til we get to Glory and you will see as you have been seen by God who loves you very much!

Do you live with disabilities? Do you get discouraged?
It's ok. We all do. It is facing the facts of the discouragement; sorting them out and dealing with them that brings strength, and completion of the process of acceptance. You are not alone...I can help.
